Turn your culinary craft into a micro-business! Series of restaurant ownership workshops taught by industry experts, to include two additional juried tastings.
So you think you can cook, huh? We intentionally hosted a FOODIE CHALLENGE to stir food creativity. We heard from hundreds of local residents who want healthy food, seafood options and ethnic flavors added to the local restaurant scene. But, opening your own restaurant is an enormous undertaking. Getting involved in freshLAB mitigates that risk.
Boot Camp is an intensive and comprehensive entrepreneurship program designed specifically around food opportunities taught by food specialists. We recognize market access is just as important as training and grants. Perhaps more importantly, a business plan is not a sufficient judge of a candidate’s readiness to get started or grow. Classroom learning, peer evaluation, expert advice and much more will assist restaurateurs in achieving his/her dreams. Attending Boot Camp is a prerequisite for establishing a new eatery at freshLAB.
Tentative upcoming program schedule:
- October 2017: Orientation two (2) hours, three (3) hours classroom learning
- November 2017: Three (3) hours classroom learning, three (3) hours culinaryLAB, two (2) hours juried tasting
- December 2017: Six (6) hours classroom learning, optional special event
- January 2018: Three (3) hours classroom learning, three (3) hours culinaryLAB, two (2) hours juried tasting
Industry experts will lead the classroom training in operations, marketing and financial management. Other mentors will guide menu planning to inventory management, distributor purchasing to farm sourcing, social media to websites. Estimated Course Value $1,300.
